Friends,
The launch of our new website marks the start of a new era at the GJCF (Gershon Jacobson Jewish Continuity Foundation): Our presence on the largest possible media forum - the Internet -- allows people everywhere to access our work and message, thus allowing the public to benefit from our unique contribution, filling the vital need for moral clarity in the media. Our website will allow you to better familiarize yourself with us and our activities; it will keep you abreast of all our programs and progress, inform you about upcoming events and enabling you to view videos and pictures of our dynamic programs.
Knowledge is power, and with power comes responsibility, namely the responsibility we each have to ensure that we empower ourselves with access to the information that will teach us collectively how to live as better people, fight global ills and thus create a better world.
The responsibility of those in the business of information dissemination, is largely magnified, but sadly too often abused. At the GJCF we take this responsibility very seriously, join us as we take on the fight against our common yet invisible enemies, ignorance, apathy and divisiveness acting as a courageous media advocate for the most important issues facing the Jewish People, the state of Israel and the survivors.
Recently I was returning from a new Exhibition at the museum of Jewish Heritage. The Exhibition was entitled "Holocaust by Bullets" documenting the brutal shooting of over 1.5 million Jews in and around the Ukraine and former Soviet Union, during the Nazi holocaust. On the subway ride home, as I was reading through the retrospective, a young woman with two small children, leaned over my shoulder and asked: "Is that true?" Shock followed by sadness, as I realized that she simply had no idea. While the Holocaust still looms in the not so distant past, a new fanatical hatred has emerged, as children in Arab countries all over the world are taught that Jews can be killed as the offspring of pigs and monkeys.
Our task is to ensure that mankind never forgets the lessons of the past in order that it is never repeated, the task is momentous -- and the task is ours. The powerful Jewish voice, informed by years of experience and intellectual honesty must be heard by all men and women of the world.
We need you to make it happen.
Let your voice be heard.
